CONTEMPORARY PAINTING
from the National Gallery Collection

Sofia Arsenal – Museum for Contemporary Art presents selected pieces form the National Gallery, Sofia collection.
The selection includes works, created between 2000-2012 and purchased by the museum in 2012. Then, after a more than 20-year long break, once more new acquisitions were made to the collection.
The exhibition, presented at SAMCA in the period April 30 – June 14, 2015 reminds of the importance of this act, the desire and the necessity to carry on filling up the museum collection.
The chosen pieces outline some of the tendencies in our contemporary painting and give us the opportunity for a new interpretation of our most recent art history.
The exhibition and the current issue include paintings by the authors Dimitar Yaranov, Elena Panayotova, Iva Yaranova, Ivan Kostolov, Iskra Blagoeva, Kaliya Kalacheva, Kiril Prashkov, Krassimir Dobrev, Ludmil Lazarov, Momchil Georgiev, Oleg Mavromatti, Plamen Todorov, Rossen Toshev and Simeon Stoilov.
